Code 1 - 'Telling It Like It Is'

Debut full-length from these tough London punks who mix the classic early sound of English punk rock with a touch of the ’82 sound and a large dose of Oi! too. It’s raw and powerful and very hostile. It’s oozing with London anger and acidity and truly does hark back to the days when punk bands really did have something to say. Too many bands these days just go through the punk rock motions but CODE 1 is a real assault, it’s so in your face that you have to take notice. They have a great knack of switching from fast, rabid hardcore punk to real anthemic melody. It’s been a long, long time since a contemporary English band has impressed me this much. Right from the opening ‘Vigilante’ this record is ablaze and does not let up right to the end…it’s vicious and commanding from start to finish and real brutal ride and all done in the right way – it’s never too heavy – it’s just straightforward and raw, they don’t go over the top with guitars, they just keep it stripped down and powerful. Do yourself a favour and get this is you want some hard, powerful punk rock / Oi!.84 Recordshttp://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3LnN0ZXAxbXVzaWMuY29t

The Dundee Craft Pack (From issue # 5)
This is one of the best deals ever and it is American and cheap. For the past 4 months I have been heading down to Danny's liquors (located at 2222 Western Ave. in the Chicago land area) to pick up my Dundee Craft Pack with 12 diversified flavors for just $7.99. What you will find inside this great assorted box is a Dundee Pale Bock Lager, Wheat Ale, Porter, Original Honey Brown, Pale Ale and ,my personal favorite, the India Pale Ale. This I.P.A. might not have the same kind of punch of pine and hops that the Crooked Tree I.P.A. has, but it will head you into the same direction. It is meant to be bitter but the hops seem to come second to malt which is not particular of an I.P.A. But I am not reviewing this drink but rather the whole package that it comes in. If you're looking for fine ales and lagers, the Dundee Craft Pack is an American original with the taste from Europe's finest. Pick one up today and set your night right! ~Eric~

Danny's Liquor's (2222 Western Ave. Chicago, IL)This is a great liquor store with an unbelievable selection of fine ales, lagers, wines and spirits, and many other options. It is a tiny little lit up store on Western Avenue in Chicago. When you walk in the door you are taken away from the narrow isles of the seemingly endless options of alcohol that could set your night straight. It gives you choices and allows you buy that 12 pack of great tasting beer that you always wanted to get but only bought for a special night. There really is something for everyone there. The prices are great for what you need. Danny's sells pints, 6 packs, 12 packs, everything your usual liquor store would sell but with prices that will blow your mind. Stop spending a ton of money on weekend fun and save a few extra bucks at Danny's Liquors. I have been going to this great place for about two and a half years now and it has definitely been a great help. ~Mel~

What is being said about Brew and Honour:

"I'll put in a plug for B&H. It's a good paper zine, the likes of which are rare these days. Good interviews, record reviews, etc. "

Pick up this zine! It's paper (which we need more of...I'm looking at you, ZACH) and is a great asset to the scene! Support Brew&Honour!

Sean - Politics of the Street

This is a good zine and I'm glad to see it coming out on a regular basis as I know how much of a bitch it can be to put them together.

I've bought every issue since #2 and it is pretty damn good. I just know how hard it is to keep putting them out and hopefully Eric won't get burned out doing an issue every month. There are lots of European zines (metal and oi) that are great but I just can't spend $8.00 in shipping for every Polish/Ukrainian/Russian written zine out there.

Zach - Politics of the Street

I just want to say that the newest issue looks fantastic. The layout is greatly improved with more white space and varied fonts. Good job!

Brew and Honour Issue # 4 (Review done by Backstreet Battalion)

I barely read the third issue I received the fourth one. And the next will be out in February. Great arrangement and the graphic design is same as issue 3 but this issue has more pages. After the editorial came interviews: Two US bands which I didn´t know, Brassic from California and Vicious Sex from Chicago. Also Bill a skinhead from London, which owns Oi! Oi! the Shop in London (in interview he mention „Adam“ who is making some zine..Adam is „Opavka“ from Czech) is interviewed there, then skingirls from Barcelona and Costa Rica(in that interview were mentioned some bands. so hope I will hear something more about them…it sounds really exotic). Gig reports from Glory Boys, then Fit for Abuse and last but not least report from gig of Paul Weller. You can read also something about history of Stormwatch, Njord, Hais and Fiers, Strongside and Short Cropped. Then goes some CD and zine reviews, advertisements on labels, bands, zines. Also printed newsletter of Pure Impact is added. Prize is OK, so on the end “Eric, you really do it well”. Looking forward to next number Address: Brew and Honour 2211 W, Diversey Ave, Chicago, IL, 60647, http://northsiderevival.net/, Cmseric2007@yahoo.com
